From 18 – 22 August 2010, Gamescom will be taking place in Cologne for the second time. At the largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment, the site of the Koelnmesse will be transformed into the world’s most exciting playground for interactive games. And in 2010 more companies from Germany and abroad will be displaying their products than at the premiere in 2009.”

In its fifteenth year SPX now serves as the preeminent showcase for the exhibition of independent comic books and the discovery of new creative talent. If you did not participate in the past, whether as a fan or an exhibitor, you missed a lot—don’t be left out in 2010. 2009 was another terrific year for the show. Attendance was over 3,000 attendees and exhibitors, along with dozens of printers, distributors, retailers, and other industry professionals.
There were over 450 people registered as exhibitors and we sold over 170 exhibitor tables. SPX has a unique format of only selling exhibitor space to independent publishers and not to retailers. This provides a very intimate and friendly atmosphere for our creators and fans to mingle. At the same time, there’s a wide array of programming for all to enjoy.”

“Massive Events introduces their first ever event for the hit sci-fi classic franchise Star Trek: Warp 10!!! This 3-day unofficial UK convention aims to celebrate this hugely popular phenomenon that has spanned decades. “Bitten is a 3-day unofficial convention to celebrate the…HBO television series “True Blood” based on the best-selling novel series ‘The Southern Vampire Mysteries’ by Charlaine Harris. This unofficial convention aims to bring together fans of the series and books to enjoy various events over the weekend. “The largest science fiction and fantasy convention in the Nordic countries showcases new SF publications and Finnish SF fandom, and also looks info the roots of science fiction and its spreading as a part of mainstream culture. Finncon 2010 is free of charge for visitors and is made possible by grants, advertising revenue and plenty of volunteer work. The main organizers responsible for Finncon are the Jyväskylä Science Fiction Society 42 and Finncon-yhdistys ry in cooperation with Jyväskylän Kesä.”

“Anime Expo is an annual convention, held in 2010 on July 1 – 4, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Anime Expo has grown in scale dramatically, and is currently the largest anime and manga convention in North America.
Popular large events include the Masquerade, Anime Music Video Contest, Concerts, Battle of the Bands, and the “AX Idol” contest. Anime Expo is a 24-hour convention that offers late-night dances, all night video programming, tabletop gaming rooms, and open-mic Karaoke in the late evening/early morning hours. Many of the attendees cosplay while attending the convention, and there are many gatherings for fans of different anime and manga series.”

“FanimeCon is its own entity where it takes not one, but many people to bring it together. Fans from across California and beyond band together and bring life into one of the largest anime conventions in the state.”

“The mission of Animazement is to provide an introduction to Japanese Language and Culture, through the world of Japanese Animation and Manga.
For three days each spring, we bring together a diverse group of attendees, volunteers, special Japanese and American guests, panelists, and our staff, and together we share in celebrating Japanese entertainment and visual culture. Our activities span the various genres of anime, manga, video games, J-pop/J-rock, martial arts, traditional arts and crafts, and more, all in a family-friendly, festival-like atmosphere.”

“MediaWest*Con is the definitive gathering of Science Fiction/Media fandom, held each Memorial Day Weekend in Lansing, Michigan. MediaWest*Con is…a celebration of the diversity of SF/Media fandom, run by fans, for fans, and is staffed entirely by volunteers. MediaWest*Con traditionally features the Art Show and Auction, Fanzine Reading Room, Fannish Videos, Masquerade, Dealers’ Room, Fan Quality Awards, Fan Fund, both a Con Suite (AKA Hospitality Suite) and a Party Suite, and many, many, panels on a wide variety of topics representing many areas of interest. Programming is determined by member input and participation. We have no official guests.”

“The Toronto Comic Arts Festival exists to promote the breadth and diversity of comics, and what is considered comics, as legitimate medium of literary and artistic worth. The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is a unique comics event, patterned after comics festivals like Angouleme, Harlem, and the Small Press Expo. It is two full days of comics-related events, including readings, presentations, panel discussions, gallery shows, and a large exhibition area featuring publishers and comic authors and artists. We like to describe it as ‘unconventional’.”

VCON is organized by a subcommittee of the West Coast Science Fiction Association — a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and understanding of science fiction and fantasy fan culture in Vancouver BC and its environs.

Comic-Con 2010 has already seen unprecedented interest. Four-day memberships sold out in November — months before last year’s record-breaking March sellout — in part because we limited attendance to Preview Night.
